This IDC Survey examines how European organizations perceive and plan public cloud application deployments. It focuses on the trigger points for cloud solution purchasing, the application areas that are on the rise, and where the cloud-buying power sits in the organization. The information and analysis are based on IDC's 2017 European Cloud Impact Survey, which involved 801 cloud procurement decision makers in Europe, carried out in April and May 2017.
"Europe has lagged behind the U.S. in terms of its enthusiasm regarding public cloud solutions, but the region is undergoing dramatic changes related to cloud. Foreign providers are building in-country/in-region datacenters, and some are collaborating with European infrastructure providers to reduce the nervousness and concerns related to security and reliability of cloud applications," said Bo Lykkegaard, associate vice president, IDC. "This hesitance regarding cloud is currently changing in Europe and buyers are planning substantial cloud investments."
